During Your Appointment

AI-driven X-rays

We utilize AI technology to assess your x-rays, providing a detailed analysis of the tooth structure, including any dental fillings or crowns. Additionally, our advanced technology helps evaluate bone levels around teeth and dental implants and identify signs of infection or cysts, often related to root canal therapy.

Spectra Caries Evaluation

Our hygienist may perform a Spectra caries evaluation, which uses fluorescence technology to detect early signs of tooth decay.

Periodontal or Gum Charting

To assess the health of your gums, our hygienist may perform periodontal charting, measuring the pocket depths and recession around each tooth. This helps us understand the health of your gums and bone and screens for periodontitis, a condition that, if left untreated, can significantly increase the risk of tooth loss. According to a recent CDC report:

    • 47.2% of adults aged 30 years and older have some form of periodontal disease.
    • The prevalence of periodontal disease increases with age, with 70.1% of adults 65 years and older affected.

Comprehensive Cleaning

Our dental hygienist will perform a comprehensive cleaning of your teeth, removing plaque and tartar buildup to ensure optimal oral hygiene. This may be done with tools such as a Cavitron, scalers, Cocoflossing, and ProphyJet or rubber cup polishing.

  • Cavitron: Our hygienist utilizes the Cavitron when there are areas of thick and hard-to-remove plaque. With its high-frequency ultrasonic vibrations, the Cavitron quickly and gently eliminates plaque and tartar from your teeth, ensuring a thorough cleaning experience.
  • Scalers: Handheld dental scalers are used to carefully remove any remaining plaque or tartar from hard-to-reach areas.
  • Cocoflossing: Cocofloss has a unique, textured weave giving it maximal surface area to debride plaque and debris from between your teeth. Its free of toxins, including parabens, sulfates, and PFAs. Infused with naturally cleansing coconut oil, Cocofloss also contains aromatic fruit oils and a light coating of vegan wax.
  • ProphyJet: The ProphyJet is a specialized dental device that combines water, compressed air, and fine powder to efficiently remove surface stains from your teeth. This technique is particularly effective in removing plaque and stains from deep grooves and even below the gumline. It provides a thorough cleaning experience, leaving your teeth noticeably brighter and cleaner. Compared to the alternative method of rubber cup polishing, the ProphyJet offers superior effectiveness in stain and plaque removal
  • Rubber Cup Polishing: To achieve a smooth and polished finish, our hygienist may use a ProphyJet or a rubber cup polishing technique to remove surface stains and leave your teeth looking bright and clean.
